Job Description

The Fire Fighting Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, hydrants, and suppression systems. The role requires technical expertise, project management skills, and a commitment to ensuring compliance with fire safety standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:1. Design and Engineering:

  • Develop and review designs for fire protection systems using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Calculate hydraulic parameters for sprinkler and suppression systems.
  • Ensure designs comply with local fire codes, NFPA standards, and Omani regulations.

2. Installation and Supervision:

  • Supervise the installation of fire protection systems, ensuring alignment with approved designs and project timelines.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and project teams to deliver quality installations.
  • Perform quality checks on materials and equipment used in fire protection systems.

3. Inspection and Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine inspections of fire protection systems to ensure functionality and compliance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in fire suppression and detection systems.
  • Provide recommendations for system upgrades or replacements when necessary.

4. Compliance and Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit project documentation, including design drawings, test reports, and compliance certificates.
  • Ensure all fire systems meet Omani legal requirements and international safety standards.
  • Stay updated on changes to fire safety regulations and standards.

5. Client and Team Collaboration:

  • Liaise with clients to understand requirements and provide technical solutions.
  • Work closely with other engineers, architects, and contractors to integrate fire protection systems with other building services.
  • Provide training to clients and staff on system operation and fire safety practices.

Key Requirements:Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Certification in fire protection systems (e.g., NFPA, Fire Safety Engineering) is highly preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in designing and managing fire protection systems.
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards, Omani fire codes, and international safety practices.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic calculations and fire suppression technologies.

Other Requirements:

  • Familiarity with Omani regulations and building codes.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Oman.
  • Arabic language skills are an advantage but not mandatory.
