Senior Instrumentation Designer – McDermott International
Responsibilities
- Prepare the development of key project deliverables, including (but not limited to) the following:
- Junction box/panel wiring diagrams/strip reports(SPI), Populate instrument index in SPI for design, Block diagrams, Installation details, Analyzer systems (wiring and tubing connections and tie-ins), Instrument / fire & gas location plans, Telecom location plans, MTO’s & associated Bills of Material, Instrument loop sheets (SPI), Building layouts, Cable schedules/lists, Cable sizing, 3D Instrument modeling
- Development and support of vendor packages, including (but not limited to) the following:
- Create and issue required MTO for vendor package interfaces
- Create all design drawings to allow interface to vendor packages with remainder of facility including electrical
- Perform design review of supplier documents for instrument and non-instrument packages
- Provide support for the Inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of mechanical packages
- Provide technical support to Construction personnel for I&C design related inquiries as needed
- Maintain and promote a focus on McDermott’s end-product throughout engineering, fabrication or construction
- Take responsibility for vendor package review and associated interfaces
- Become fully familiar with the project contract, scope of work, basis of design, specifications, schedule and all inter-discipline requirements; including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address the issues
- Coordinate closely with piping and I&C engineering with in-line dimensional data
- Report to and coordinate with engineering lead, as well as with instrument design manager
- Supervise and coordinate all activities associated with instrument designers
- Carefully evaluate, communicate and manage change with full awareness of project impact
- Assist the I&C lead engineer with cost, schedule, quantity, progress, budget control and quality of project deliverables
- Support model reviews
Desired Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Minimum 5-15 years of detailed instrument design experience
- Function as an instrument project design lead or instrument task lead if required
- Working knowledge of design techniques, sequence of deliverables, and schedules
- Working knowledge of the content and application of standards, codes and guidelines, including ISA, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, and API
- Proven project coordination and execution skills in delivery of completed project design deliverables
- Experience with the utilization of multiple office project execution (MOPEX).
- Proven experience with Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI), AutoCad, MS Office Suite including Excel and Word
- Prefer experience on large cap EPC project
- Prefer experience at site during construction and commissioning
