Responsibilities
- Coordinate project elements on the IMU development lifecycle including engineering design, quality planning, manufacturing, installation and commissioning.
- Develop IMU calibration and compensation algorithms for internally developed IMUs.
- Develop sensor error models described using mathematical equations.
- Collaborate with the product management team to identify all sensors required to complete and perform a mission, including their accuracy requirements; and execute a high-level design of the inertial and hybrid navigation system and mechanization.
- Code simulation models and test models to verify performance according to supplier specifications.
- Code inertial and hybrid navigation algorithms and integrate into the simulation.
- Create navigation system functional area specification and/or software requirement specification and document detailed interface design of the navigation system.
- Manage and integrate functionality of the navigation simulation of sensor models and navigation algorithms.
- Support the creation of vehicle and flight test procedures to formally qualify navigation systems and IMUs.
- Manage the execution of laboratory tests and vehicle tests; ensure generation and documentation of associated evaluation software and test reports.
- Support the execution of flight tests, and verify that simulation, laboratory, vehicle and flight test results validate the performance of the navigation system as per the defined specifications.
- Assure timely, cost effective and creative solutions for program and engineering issues, present recommendations and implementation status to leadership and customers.
- Take a proactive approach to ensure continuous improvement of IMUs, processes and techniques to consistently improve the quality of delivery, resource optimization and cost reduction.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in relevant sensor fusion and IMU techniques.
- Supervise, coach, train and develop Junior Engineers in navigation technology, simulations, models, tool and analysis, and motivate them to deliver high level of performance.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in the development of algorithms, simulation and modelling with at least 3 years in the development of navigation systems or IMUs.
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Electronics or Mechanical engineering / Certification in control systems and optimal estimation theory from an accredited institute.
