Job Description

Provide a high degree of specialist knowledge and analytical competence to the testing and analytical processes undertaken at the QatarEnergy LNG Laboratory.

Responsibilities

Job Context & Major Challenge(s): • Context of the role relates to the role serving as the recognized expert for chemical analysis within field of specialization. • Responsible for understanding, implementing, and assuring Laboratory operations adhere to the ISO 17025 system. Key Job Accountabilities: • Ensure all activities undertaken within designated areas of specialization are conducted following ISO standards and Company policies and procedures. • Contribute to laboratory service agreements, designing and configuration of testing methods. Select and configure testing methods, validate, and verify methods prior to use for analysis. • Selection and configuration of testing methods, perform methods validation and verification prior to use for analysis. • Undertake the studies that require complex chemical analysis, and lead for solving laboratory analysis technical issues. Support with timely investigation of customer technical complaints and other sources of nonconforming work. • Support with timely investigation of customer technical complaints and other sources of nonconforming work. • Plan, assign, and review the work of a group of professional and technical employees engaged in making laboratory tests involving the use of equipment’s, materials, and proper selection of test methods. • Prepare, update and review Laboratory sampling and analysis procedures to ensure they are accurate and up to date. Review certificates of quality for all products and shipments and ensure the results are traceable. • Oversee and ensure implementation of quality control systems and ensure oversight for proficiency testing (PT) samples as per ISO 17025. • Calibrate laboratory equipment according to quality control and quality assurance schedule plan. Perform new instrument start up, commissioning, calibration, and support Equipment Engineer in root cause investigation in case of instrument failure. • Conduct customer correlation tests as per customer agreement. • Review results for routine and non-routine samples and ensure results match with raw data. This includes analysing and interpreting analytical data and making recommendations for improvements. • Evaluate the competency of new laboratory technicians and update competency tracking system.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or science discipline. • 7 years’ experience working in a laboratory environment within the Oil & Gas industry, including 3 years as a Chemist. • Knowledge of international auditing and compliance regulations including ISO 17025.
