The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) is the world’s leading think tank examining geopolitical and geo-economic risk from an international perspective, with a specialist expertise in risks with a national security dimension. The IISS has offices in London, Berlin, Singapore, Manama, and Washington DC. Arundel House Enterprises Ltd. (AHEL) is the commercial subsidiary of the IISS, which this role will be contracted under.
We are seeking a Senior Advisor to be a research leader within the IISS Digital Project. They will conceptualise and implement research and analysis on global developments (with an initial focus on the geopolitics of cyber and defence economics). This position is suited for individuals with demonstrated experience in leading research teams, managing large projects and interacting with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Working directly with the Research Lead, the Senior Advisor will lead on specific projects which deliver insightful analysis, strategic advice and thought leadership.
  • Maintain expertise in a core area of the Digital Project’s research and be open to growing and adapting this expertise as business requires.
  • Guide and peer review the meticulous management of data as it pertains to our core research focus, ensuring its accuracy, relevance, and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to innovate and enhance proprietary tools, enabling more efficient data processing and richer analytical insights for client deliverables and strategic decision-making.
  • Provide guidance to more junior team members to ensure that briefs and reports are conducted and delivered to a consistent high-quality working.
  • This will include the framing of research questions as well as continuous feedback and peer review to ensure the project is delivered on time and to the required standards.
  • Ensure that all materials are accurate, up-to-date, and formatted according to IISS standards.
  • Co-lead on cross-functional engagement with other IISS departments to integrate and leverage diverse expertise, enhancing the overall quality and impact of the team’s analyses.
  • Co-lead and contribute to team meetings and brainstorming sessions, ensuring that personal inputs align with team goals and client expectations.
