Job Description

To be a senior member of the accounting team and undertake the functions required within the accounting department as directed by the Head of Financial Reporting, Fixed Assets and Taxation.

Responsibilities

General Ledger

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statement in accordance with IFRS, analyse reconcile expenditures and revenue accounts.
  • Check validity and accuracy of accounting books and records.
  • Work on the monthly closing activities, including reconciliations, accruals, valuations, inventory adjustments etc. 
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS and regulatory requirements in financial reporting. 
  • Prepare cost of production and execute the inventory valuation in SAP. 

Fixed Assets 

  • Maintenance of the fixed asset register in SAP including acquisitions, disposals, impairment postings and periodic processing.
  • Work on physical verification and impairment reviews.
  • Creation and maintenance of Projects (Work Breakdown Structures) and fixed assets master records within the accounting system.
  • Support the continuous update and maintenance of project and fixed asset systems and interfaces, including procedure documentation.
  • Ensure proper classification and coding of fixed assets according to accounting standards and company policies.
  • Monitor capital projects to ensure proper accounting treatment and timely capitalization of assets in accordance with company policies and accounting standards. 

Financial Reporting 

  • Financial statements are prepared timely and in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards to a quality that can be submitted to management, Board of Directors, owners and lenders. 
  • Prepare and file regulatory reports and disclosures as required by governing bodies and regulatory authorities. 
  • Work extensively with the external auditors on the audit process to provide information for audits and in the preparation of audited financial statements. 

Taxation:

  • Prepare and file accurate and timely tax returns, ensuring adherence to filing deadlines and regulatory guidelines.
  • Calculation of deferred taxes, and Income tax accruals in accordance with Income tax laws and IFRS. 
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, including income tax, VAT, and other taxes.
