EGA is seeking a school nurse who will play a vital role in maintaining the health and well-being of students in an educational setting. Their responsibilities typically include:
Responsibilities
Medical Care: Providing first aid and managing acute and chronic health conditions. They also handle medication administration and coordinate with parents and healthcare providers.
Health Education: Educating students, staff, and families about health issues, hygiene, nutrition, and wellness practices.
Health Screenings: Conducting routine health screenings like vision and hearing tests, and monitoring growth and development.
Emergency Response: Responding to medical emergencies and managing health crises in the school environment.
Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate health records for students, including immunization status and medical histories.
Collaboration: Working with teachers, administrators, and parents to support students’ health needs and create a safe learning environment.
Overall, a school nurse ensures that students are healthy, safe, and able to fully participate in their education.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) License: A valid RN license from the relevant state or country.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing: Typically a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an equivalent degree.
- Qatar Ministry of Public Health Medical License
- Experience: Relevant clinical experience, often including experience with pediatric or adolescent care, and in a triage setting.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations: Familiarity with school health policies, state health regulations, and emergency procedures.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage health records, handle multiple tasks, and coordinate with various stakeholders.
- Empathy and Patience: Sensitivity to the needs of students and families, and the ability to provide compassionate care.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to assess health issues, make decisions, and implement appropriate interventions.
