Responsibilities
We are looking for POWDER MAN 1. When required, works closely with the drill supervisor and the contract drillers ensuring safety and quality of shot holes. 2. Help ensure that the explosives are handled and loaded at the shot point according to but not limited to IME and Global Geophysical policies. Ensure the powder and caps are kept separate. 3. Help ensure that all persons entering the work area are authorized and understand explosive safety procedures. Ensure that unauthorized persons are kept away from the area. 4. Help ensure correct location, safe distances and offset from structures and culture by scouting the shot hole area. 5. Delivers the need explosives for days’ production. 6. Ensure correct location of and detonation of all explosive charges. 7. Responsible for the accurate day to day count of powder and cap magazines. 8. Where required by law, must posses a valid explosives license for the country or area. 9. Must abide by and enforce all Global Geophysical Policies including but not limited to HSEQ, Drug & Alcohol, Operational Policies, EnerGeo, IOGP, Client, Local & State Governmental Policies. 10. Responsible for all aspects of health, safety, and environmental concerns regarding yourself, drill contractors and any other crew member that may be in the area. 11. To request Technical, Safety and Quality Training and attend the same as required by management. 12. Be an active participant in the crew HSEQ program and active in daily tail gate meetings. 13. Be able to navigate in adverse conditions and report unsafe acts and hazards. Understand how to read maps and diagrams. 14. Required to assist as needed in any capacity on any department of the crew, at the discretion of the Party Manager/Project Manager.
Desired Candidate Profile
- For domestic operations must have a valid drivers license with DOT Hazmat endorsement if transporting explosives. Good driving record, specifically no more than five (5) moving violations during the previous three (3) year period, and no DWI convictions during the previous year.
- Must be 21 years of age. Must have current Global Geophysical explosive certification card. Be versed in required and recommended safety procedures and equipment. Must have good knowledge of all Global Geophysical policies. Must have extensive knowledge of the always and nevers of explosive handling. Must have the ability and the willingness to help ensure all aspects of production, safety, and quality. Must adhere to Global Geophysical HSEQ policies and demonstrate safe work practices.
- Capable of moving and transporting equipment of up to 75 lbs. over uneven terrain. Working in outdoor environments with varying temperatures and adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time. Walking distances of up to seven (7) miles, moving and installing equipment through, in, and around various natural and man-made obstacles requiring agility and flexibility of movement. Comprehend a variety of rules or instructions furnished in a written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form. Ability to perform math operations quickly and accurately. Capable of expressing and exchanging ideas. Ability to perceive the colour and nature of animate and inanimate objects or terrain.
