Job Description

A Planning Engineer is a professional responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining schedules and plans for construction and engineering projects. 

This role involves coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize project timelines, identify potential issues, and propose solutions to keep projects on track.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Coordinate with project managers and engineering teams to gather project requirements and timelines. 
  • Monitor project progress, identifying potential delays and proposing solutions.
  • Perform critical path analysis and resource levelling to ensure project efficiency.
  • Update and maintain project documentation, including schedules, reports, and progress updates.
  • Provide regular status reports and communicate schedule impacts to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with project standards and industry best practices. 
  • Assist in the preparation of project budgets and forecasts.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing scheduling expertise and insights. 
  • Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to align schedules with material deliveries and construction activities.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (B.E. or B. Tech Mechanical).
  • Professional Experience: 8-12 years of proven work experience in planning and scheduling for Mechanical Construction Projects.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in utilizing scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel.
  • Scheduling Techniques: Demonstrated expertise in various scheduling techniques.
  • Project Experience: Experience in Construction Planning for projects involving Storage Tanks, Pressure Vessels, Piping, or Steel Structures.
  • Bonus Experience: Prior fabrication/field construction experience on storage tanks with at least one previous employer is considered a significant advantage.
  • Critical Thinking: Excellent critical thinking ability.
  • Analytical Skills: Profound mathematical skills and strong judgmental abilities.
  • Communication Skills: Fluent in English with efficient and effective interactive communication skills.
  • Commercial Understanding: Understanding of basic commercial terms and concepts.
  • Personal Attributes: A self-driven personality with a strong aspiration to excel in the field.
