Responsibilities
- Help the pharmacist in dispensing and maintaining the records of dispensed drugs
- Follow policies and procedures of the department
- Pick up orders and process the order entry to update the patient profile to be checked and validated by the pharmacist
- Assist in ordering, receiving, unpacking and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations
- Prepare intravenous admixtures according to preset guidelines for aseptic techniques
- Repackage medications according to the preset guidelines.
- Operate all equipment needed to perform the duties (e.g. Laminar flow hood, Omnicell®, Pneumatic tube, packaging machine)
- Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
- Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members
- Assist the pharmacists with medication safety rounds
- Report medication errors and adverse drug reactions.
- Repackage medications according to the preset guidelines.
- Ensure correct labeling of drugs (e.g. High Alert, Look alike
- Participate in the quality improvement activities of the department
- Organize and prioritize work assignments
- Participate in the training of new technicians
- Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacist
