Indian Baker / Tandoor Baker – Confidential Company
Responsibilities
- Tandoor Preparation: Prepare and maintain the tandoor for cooking, including managing the temperature and cleaning the tandoor after use.
- Bread Baking: Bake traditional Indian breads such as naan, roti, kulcha, and tandoori paratha in the tandoor oven.
- Baked Goods Preparation: Prepare and bake Indian snacks like samosas, biscuits, and other regional delicacies as per the menu.
- Dough Preparation: Prepare and knead different types of doughs for bread, pastries, and baked goods, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Cooking Meats & Vegetables: Skewer and cook various marinated meats, seafood, paneer, and vegetables in the tandoor, ensuring proper doneness and flavor.
- Recipe Adherence: Follow traditional and modern recipes to ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain hygiene standards and follow food safety regulations while handling food items, ingredients, and equipment.
- Inventory & Supplies: Monitor and manage the supply of ingredients, including flour, spices, and other bakery items. Order supplies as needed.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with chefs, kitchen staff, and other bakers to ensure smooth operations and timely service.
- Customer Service: Interact with customers when necessary to answer questions and accommodate special requests or dietary needs.
- Training & Mentorship: Provide training to junior bakers or assistants as required.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Experience: Prior experience as a baker, especially in Indian or Tandoor baking, is highly preferred.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Indian breads, tandoor cooking techniques, and other traditional baking methods.
- Culinary Skills: Expertise in dough preparation, marination, and baking techniques for both bread and tandoor-cooked items.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long hours and work in a fast-paced, hot kitchen environment.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency in every batch.
- Time Management: Ability to manage time efficiently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously during busy periods.
- Team Player: Excellent collaboration skills to work harmoniously within a kitchen team.
- Food Safety Certification: Preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Culinary Arts or Baking is a plus.
- Familiarity with a variety of Indian cuisines beyond just baking.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced restaurant or bakery kitchen environment.
- Handling of hot tandoor equipment and sharp tools.
