Responsibilities:
- Diagnosing and Repairing Diesel Engines: You will be tasked with troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines, including diagnosing issues with fuel systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, and electrical systems.
- Performing Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance inspections and services on heavy trucks, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and tire rotations, to ensure vehicles operate efficiently and safely.
- Repairing and Replacing Mechanical Components: Identify faulty or worn-out components such as brake systems, steering mechanisms, suspension systems, and drivetrain components, and repair or replace them as necessary.
- Performing Welding and Fabrication: Utilize welding equipment and fabrication skills to repair or modify metal components and structures on heavy trucks.
- Completing Work Orders and Documentation: Document all maintenance and repair work performed on heavy trucks accurately, including parts used, labor hours, and diagnostic findings.
- Adhering to Safety Standards: Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safety regulations.
- Maintaining Tools and Equipment: Ensure all tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices are properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Experience and Education: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant vocational training or certification in diesel mechanics. Previous experience working as a diesel mechanic, particularly with heavy trucks, is typically required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical components of heavy-duty vehicles. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software is advantageous.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various positions (standing, kneeling, squatting), and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers, including the ability to explain technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
