Fiber Optics Technician
Job Description
A fiber optics technician — also called a cable technician, cable installer or telecommunications technician — designs, installs, operates, maintains and repairs telecommunication networks for high-speed internet, television and telephone services.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fiber optic cables and systems.
- Perform site surveys and create detailed reports.
- Test and certify fiber optic networks using various testing equipment.
- Terminate, splice, and connectorized fiber optic cables.
- Install and configure network equipment such as switches and routers.
- Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to complete projects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with fiber optic networks.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in fiber optic technology.
