Job Description
Procurement officers are responsible for evaluating suppliers, products, and services, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that approved purchases are cost-efficient and of high quality.
Responsibilities
- Sourcing and Purchasing: Identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and purchase salon and spa products and equipment. Ensure the timely procurement of quality products and services in accordance with company policies.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels to ensure an adequate supply of products while minimizing waste and overstock. Coordinate with inventory management teams to track usage and forecast needs.
- Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors. Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate terms to ensure cost-effectiveness and reliability.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the procurement budget. Monitor expenses and ensure that purchases stay within budgetary constraints.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant laws and company policies. Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and related documentation.
- Market Research: Stay updated on market trends, new products, and potential suppliers. Conduct market analysis to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of products purchased meets the salon's standards. Handle any issues related to product quality or delivery discrepancies.
- Coordination: Work closely with salon managers and other departments to understand their needs and ensure smooth operations. Coordinate logistics and delivery schedules to ensure timely receipt of goods.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is often preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the beauty or hospitality industry.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and communication skills to deal effectively with suppliers and vendors.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze market trends and vendor performance to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure quality and compliance with procurement processes.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve issues related to procurement processes and vendor relationships promptly and efficiently.
- Knowledge of the Industry: Understanding of the salon and spa industry, including knowledge of products, trends, and supplier networks.
