Job Description
The Inventory Clerk and Purchaser will be responsible for managing inventory levels, placing and managing orders, and ensuring smooth operations within our roastery. This role requires a blend of organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication to handle both inventory management and purchasing functions.
Responsibilities
- Inventory Management:
- Conduct daily inventory checks and reconcile discrepancies to maintain accurate records.
- Update inventory management software or systems to reflect current stock levels and transactions.
- Monitor inventory levels and initiate orders to replenish stock as necessary.
- Identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and recommend actions for disposal or clearance.
- Conduct regular physical counts and audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Ensure inventory storage areas are clean, organized, and secure.
- Purchasing:
- Source and evaluate suppliers for quality, pricing, and reliability.
- Place and manage purchase orders for coffee beans, packaging materials, and other supplies.
- Negotiate terms, prices, and delivery schedules with vendors.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods and address any delays or issues with suppliers.
- Maintain positive relationships with suppliers and resolve any procurement-related issues.
- Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts for inventory levels and costs.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure the timely receipt and delivery of goods.
- Communicate effectively with vendors and internal teams to manage inventory and procurement needs.
- Prepare and review inventory and procurement reports for management, including stock levels, ordering trends, and financial summaries.
- Administrative Support:
- Handle administrative tasks related to purchasing and inventory management, including data entry, filing, and correspondence.
- Process and file invoices, ensuring accurate documentation and accounting of purchases.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in inventory management software or systems.
- Basic math skills and the ability to perform calculations using computer programs.
- Good communication skills for effective coordination with vendors and internal teams.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work occasional overtime or weekends as needed.
- Prior experience in inventory management, purchasing, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
