Job Description

The Chemical technician Grade(3) will be reporting directly to Lead Chemical Engineer. The position includes, but not limits to, responsible for the Chemical preparations, water sampling, chlorine handling, material transfer, housekeeping, emergency preparedness/response, loading and unloading of chemicals required for the operation of the UF/RO system, with the main objective of sustaining 24-hour uninterrupted operation within the boundaries of operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  •  Full responsibility over the Chemical preparation activities, loading & unloading of chemicals, under the instruction of chemical coordinator / technical support engineer.
  • Responsibility for collection of water samples, chemical product samples and safe transfer of samples from collection points to lab.
  • Loading and unloading of chemicals, material transfer from one location to other location.
  • Support to maintenance team during plant shutdown and other major activities. 
  • Responsible for safe disposal of unused chemicals.
  • Understanding of chemical classification & hazardous, usage of SCBA and PPE.
  • Responsible for Chlorine handlings includes tonner changeover, isolation and emergency preparedness/response/rescue.
  • Assist on lab analysis, maintenance and housekeeping of chemical building & storage location.
  • Facilitates and maintains high EHS performance on the site. Strictly to follow site EHS regulations, knowledge on hazardous chemicals, confined space activities, knowledge of chemical spill control, LOTO procedure and with evacuation & emergency preparedness procedures. 
  • Optimize and assist with the development of operational quality system procedures/guidelines/documents for Water Treatment.
  • Ensures to adheres to EHS & Quality processes and procedures, Checks job sites for potential hazards and reports when things against company policies. 
  • Maintains appropriate housekeeping for plant facilities cooperating with other departments.
  • Ability to work independently most of the time, but report to his supervisors.
  • Determine the reasons for any malfunctions of systems or components to solve the problem.
