Job Description

Bahrain Teachers College (BTC) at the University of Bahrain is in the process of offering several academic posts at various levels ( Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor ), for the coming academic year 2024-2025 to deliver the following courses:

Responsibilities
  • • Educational Studies (Cycle 1/primary/early childhood education, educational leadership, inclusive/special education) 
  • English Language Education (literacy, early reading, adolescent reading, language development) 
  • Arabic Education (literacy, early reading, adolescent reading, language development) and Islamic Education 
  • Math/Science Education (STEM education, instructional technology) Recruitment Conditions : 
  • A graduate degree from an accredited and internationally recognized university, preferably in one of the following fields: literacy (early reading, adolescent reading, language development, etc.); English or Arabic language; STEM education; primary/early childhood education; educational leadership; inclusive/special education or instructional technology. 
  • Teaching experience at the primary, intermediate, and/or secondary level is highly desired. 
  • Experience in leading teacher professional development is highly desired. 
  • Scholarly background demonstrating a current or potential research program in literacy, early reading, adolescent reading, integrated STEM education, early childhood education, special/inclusive education, Arabic, English as a second language, or school leadership. 
  • Record of excellence in teaching in higher education and/or teacher professional development. 
  • For Professor: a PhD degree is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience as an Associate Professor within higher education. 
  • For Associate Professor: a PhD degree is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience as an Assistant Professor within higher education. 
  • For Assistant Professor: a PhD degree is required, along with a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience within higher education or 6 years of teaching experience at the school level.

Responsibilities : 

  • Teach courses to undergraduate and postgraduate students in either English or Arabic. Most teaching at BTC is in Arabic. 
  • Assist the planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum & Academic programs in response to Ministry of Education needs, manage and monitor the quality and relevance of course content and methods of delivery. 
  • Provide support and recommendations on innovative teaching/training techniques in the public school that create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst participants. 
  • Develop and deliver programs to support private school educators. 
  • Pursue scholarly collaborations with university faculty and schoolteachers. 
  • Pursue a research agenda relevant to the specialization of the position.
  • Provide service to the college, the university, and the wider community.
