Job Description
The Planning Engineer is a key member of the supervision services team. He supports the Senior Planning Engineer and Associate Project Managers with planning activities pertaining to schedule and cost control throughout the project lifecycle. The jobholder reviews on contractors’ work programs and continuously monitors contractors’ activities against approved plans. The jobholder shall stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in the construction management and planning space, and implement best practices, where applicable.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities: • Review and check the contractor’s work program during the pre-construction phase, ensuring compliance with project requirements. • Support the Senior Planning Engineer in the review of contractors’ submittals, including staffing proposals, organization charts, shop drawings, method statements, project procedures, traffic management plans, etc. during the pre-construction phase • Provide input to the Associate Project Manager on the development of project risk management plans, including the identification of potential risks and corresponding contingency plans • Assist in monitoring supervision project schedules and investigating reasons for delays with contractors and recommend corrective measures • Assist in monitoring contractors’ daily activities and resource allocation against project plan • Support Associate Project Managers with the review of contractors’ unit rates for new work items not covered in the original Bills of Quantities • Assist the Senior Planning Engineer in monitoring project progress • Track and check the versions of drawings and specifications and ensure that all relevant parties are using the latest revised construction drawings • Support the Associate Project Manager with reviewing and commenting on the contractors’ testing and commissioning plan, as needed • Support the Associate Project Manager with the preparation and issuance of Take-Over Certificates, Defect Liability Certificates, Final Accounts and Statements of Completion, as needed • Assist the Senior Planning Engineer in the development of periodic project progress reports • Implement corporate policies and procedures
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering • Chartered Professional Engineering certification or equivalent is preferred • Over 10 years of experience in the Engineering Industry focused on planning Engineering. • Experience with utilization of latest construction management and planning software and tools • Experience within the Middle East • Knowledge of construction supervision services • Understanding of international engineering standards and codes • Good analytical and problem solving skills • Good time management skills • Good communication and presentation skills • Good knowledge of scheduling and planning software (e.g. Primavera) • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
