Job Description
The Farm Housekeeping Head is responsible for overseeing and managing the overall cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation of the farm, with a primary focus on animal care. This role ensures that all animals are kept in a clean and healthy environment, following strict hygiene protocols to promote their well-being. The Head will also oversee other housekeeping duties related to the farm, including maintaining facilities and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
1) Animal Hygiene and Care: a. Develop and implement deep cleaning schedules for animal enclosures, barns, and other housing areas to ensure optimal hygiene. b. Supervise and participate in the regular deep cleaning of animal living spaces, including removing waste, disinfecting areas, and ensuring dry and clean bedding. c. Monitor the condition of animal housing to prevent and address issues related to pest infestations or unsanitary conditions. d. Coordinate with the veterinary team to ensure all areas are prepared for medical procedures and maintain a sterile environment. 2) Facility Maintenance: a. Oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of all farm facilities, including barns, hen house, packing rooms, storage areas, feeding stations, and surrounding grounds. b. Ensure that all cleaning equipment is properly maintained, stored, and used safely by staff. c. Manage waste disposal, including organic waste and hazardous materials, in accordance with environmental and safety regulations. 3) Team Leadership: a. Supervise a team of housekeeping staff, including assigning tasks, providing training, and ensuring all work is completed to a high standard. b. Conduct regular inspections of the farm to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards. c. Provide feedback and support to staff to maintain high levels of performance and address any issues or challenges. d. Establish KPI’s, protocols and daily check lists for cleaning. 4) Health and Safety Compliance: a. Implement and enforce safety protocols related to cleaning and hygiene, ensuring all staff adhere to best practices. b. Maintain records of cleaning schedules, daily inspections, and any incidents related to hygiene or safety. c. Collaborate with farm management to develop and update policies related to farm cleanliness and animal care. 5) Inventory Management: a. Monitor and manage the inventory of cleaning supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other necessary materials. b. Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely restocking of supplies and equipment needed for housekeeping tasks. Track usage and report any shortages or issues with supply management.
