Job Description
The Manager of Engineering & Maintenance Safety is responsible for the effective implementation of Safety Investigations and Engineering & Maintenance Safety monitoring programs. The role works closely with the Engineering & Maintenance team to ensure that all aircraft maintenance activities adhere to strict safety standards, all serious Engineering & Maintenance events are investigated, safety inspections are conducted, Management of Change and Safety Risk Assessments are facilitated, and compliance with GACAR regulations as applied.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, document, and maintain a comprehensive safety occurrence reporting and investigation program for Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) and oversee day-to-day administration to ensure the program meets its objectives.
- Lead E&M safety operations by providing guidance, promoting teamwork, and facilitating efficient work processes to achieve high performance standards.
- Lead and schedule E&M Safety Action Group (SAG) meetings quarterly.
- Ensure the changes to regulations, regulatory guidance material, industry standards & recommended practices related to Engineering & Maintenance safety investigations are incorporated into the manuals as policies, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with the most current requirements.
- Research and develop effective hazard identification processes for RX operations.
- Manage, develop, and coordinate E&M change management, risk assessment, and safety analysis processes within the RX Safety Management System (SMS).
- Collaborate with E&M departments to ensure timely collection of investigation documentation for safety incidents.
- Advise the Safety Promotions Team on best practices for developing impactful safety awareness training programs.
- Ensure all RX interactions with state investigative agencies regarding aircraft accidents and incidents comply with current requirements and oversee the reporting of relevant safety events to the required state authorities.
- Manage the FDM program by ensuring integration within the organization’s SMS, disseminating de-identified information to the relevant operational managers as applicable.
