Mechanical Site Engineer
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocation for the construction of oil tank storage, structures, and pipelines.
- Collaborate with civil engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure integration of all project components and alignment with overall project goals.
- Oversee the construction activities on-site, ensuring compliance with project design specifications, safety standards, and timelines.
- Manage and coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure quality and timely completion of tasks.
- Inspect and approve materials delivered to the site, ensuring they meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Regularly inspect workmanship to ensure that construction standards are met and identify any areas requiring improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the construction team, addressing any mechanical engineering-related issues that arise.
- Identify and resolve any technical problems related to the construction of oil tanks, structures, and pipelines.
- Maintain detailed project records, including daily logs, progress reports, and documentation of any changes or deviations from the original plan.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation to regulatory authorities and stakeholders.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with health and safety regulations, particularly given the hazardous nature of oil storage and pipelines.
- Conduct regular safety audits and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and incidents.
- Manage and allocate resources effectively, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials needed for the project.
- Act as a liaison between clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, keeping them informed of project progress and addressing any concerns.
- Attend and participate in project meetings and site visits.
- Monitor project budgets and expenditures to ensure cost-effective execution.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising on quality or safety.
- Ensure that all work complies with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals for various aspects of the project.
- Identify potential issues and risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Implement solutions to overcome challenges and keep the project on track.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and site staff.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Desired Candidate Profile
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Additional certifications in project management, safety, or quality assurance are advantageous.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with specific experience in oil tank storage, structures, and pipelines.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and completing similar projects within the oil and gas industry.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and construction methods related to oil tank storage and pipelines.
- Proficiency in using engineering software and tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and project management software like MS Project or Primavera.
