Job Description
To collaborate with the Director of Internal Audit in planning, executing, and reporting on operational, financial, regulatory and compliance related audits and reviews.
Responsibilities
- Define the areas to be audited and methodology for the same.
- Manage the overall audit activity for an assigned function of the Group’s business.
- Prepare short and medium term audit plans for different regions and ensure the successful delivery of the same.
- Evaluate compliance of existing controls, policies, and procedures and make recommendations.
- Supervise store operational compliance audits to identify problem areas or procedural deficiencies as outlined in the annual audit plan.
- Review loss prevention exception reports and cash discrepancies to ensure adherence to guidelines.
- Prepare audit schedules for regional internal auditors and ensure compliance for the same.
- Identify stores that need to be targeted for audit and conduct in depth analysis of the problem areas before store visit.
- Monitor compliance with standard operating procedures for loss prevention, physical security, risk management, safe shopping concerns at stores, and working environment at stores and corporate.
- Coordinate with human resources, or other departments to assist in investigations if need be.
- Publish timely and accurate expense audit reports for each function.
- Coordinate with other functions in the Corporate for managing overall audit activity.
- Recommend new or improved processes, equipment to reduce risk exposure, and methods to reduce potential financial fraud losses.
- Directs the identification and evaluation of the Company’s risk areas, update risk register and oversees the development of the annual audit plan.
- Develops and maintains productive relationships with the auditee, staff, management, and through individual contacts and Company meetings.
- Establish clear direction, prioritize tasks, assign and delegate responsibility and monitor the workflow of the Department.
- Motivate staff and empower direct reports by providing the necessary tools and support required to support department goals.
- Mentor employees and ensure proper target setting and staff performance management in line with the Group’s performance management guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance or other closely related field.
- Professional certifications are Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), the Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), the Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Control Self-Assessment (CCSA), Certified Management Accountant (“CMA”), Certified Fraud Examiner (“CFE”), Diploma in IFRS or other professional qualification that is deemed relevant.
